Cloud Implementation Strategies

Ron has experience designing data centers that will host cloud services, as well as implementing private cloud services in existing data centers. He has implemented cloud services utilizing both in house resources and using a cloud service provider as a partner to provide and manage the infrastructure. When he was appointed by Governor Brown in 2012, he was asked to develop a strategy to implement cloud services in the State of California. His concept of a public/private partnership where a cloud service provider installs the infrastructure in the state data center and charges on a usage basis is now being considered by numerous other states. His vision, CalCloud, is now up and running in California and will become the primary provider of IT services in the State of California over the next several years. CalCloud not only provides on demand resource provisioning and allows customer self provisioning, but it does it as a fraction of the previous cost for managed services.
 Ron was involved in:

  • Writing the IT policy on cloud and SAAS services
  • Conceptualizing the intitial Cloud strategy
  • Preparation of the requirements document
  • Implementation after procurement
  • Prioritization of migrations
  • Migration planning
  • Cloud Marketing strategies

If you are looking at cloud services, talk to someone who has actually implemented them. Concepts are fine, but there is no substitute for real world experience.
